OUR MISSION

To break the last frontier for women in the fashion industry – the role of a pattern maker, colloquially called ‘Masterji’.

Fashion entrepreneur Gayatri Jolly’s brainchild, MasterG, enables women from low-income communities to question the baggage of societal norms, and to empower themselves financially through the the vocation of fashion design. Through its emphasis on safe and labor laws-compliant factory space and wages, and an empathetic and equitable gender dynamic, MasterG aims to humanize the garment manufacturing supply chain, and uphold dignity in the industry through a three-pronged approach – MasterG Training Centers, the MasterG Studio, and the in-house brand, Heimat.

MasterG Training Centers operate in areas close to where the women reside. Students pursue a professional certificate program in fashion design. Post completion, some get selected to work at the MasterG Studio, others start their own small ventures or join other companies. The Studio focuses on contract manufacturing for external clients (for export and domestic markets), in addition to the design and production of the in-house brand, Heimat. From designing patterns to stitching to packing – all processes are carried out by women. Brands associated with the MasterG Studio believe in the transformative journey that it undertakes with students and support the program wholeheartedly as customers.
